DURHAM, N.C. – The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) has released its Rolex Junior All-America selections for the 2019 campaign with Duke freshman
Erica Shepherd and Blue Devil signee Phoebe Brinker earning first team accolades.
A product of Greenwood, Ind., Shepherd competed in four AJGA events in 2019 carding two runner-up finishes at the Buick Shanshan Feng AJGA Girls Invitational and the Kathy Whitworth Invitational, while also turning in a fourth place ledger at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship. Also in 2019, she teamed with Blue Devil freshman
Megan Furtney to claim the USGA U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship.
As a freshman at Duke in the fall, Shepherd collected a 74.00 stroke average and collected an even-par, 72, at the East Lake Cup to finish tied for sixth. She concluded her AJGA career earning five Rolex Junior All-America accolades.
Brinker, who hails from Wilmington, Del., signed with Duke last week and will be a freshman for the Blue Devils in 2020-21. She is currently being ranked No. 7 in the AJGA overall and No. 4 in the class of 2020. Brinker was a member of the 2019 Junior Solheim Cup United States team that won, 13-11, and helped lead the East squad to a 27.5-22.5 victory at the 2019 Wyndham Cup. She is a two-time Rolex Junior All-America selection.
Over the last five years, Brinker totaled 12 top five, 16 top 10 and 21 top 20 placements. She won the 2018 Colonial Junior, while winning the 2016 and 2017 Windham Mountain Resort Junior All-Star on the AJGA. Brinker advanced to match play at the 2018 and 2019 USGA U.S. Girls' Junior Championships. She is a four-time All-Conference selection starting in eighth grade and three-time Delaware State Golfer of the Year.
