Janangelo to be Inducted into WGCA Hall of Fame

DURHAM, N.C. – Former Duke University women's golf National Player of the Year, Liz Janangelo, will be inducted into the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Players Hall of Fame December 8, 2019, as announced this week by the WGCA.
Janangelo will be inducted along with Kellee Booth of Arizona State University and Caroline Keggi of the University of New Mexico and Ohio State University. The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place at Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas, Nev. Booth, Janangelo and Keggi become the 76th, 77th and 78th members of the WGCA Players Hall of Fame.
A staple in the Duke record books, Janangelo is one of two Blue Devils to be named a four-time First Team All-America. She won seven tournaments in her four years at Duke, which is tied for fourth in program history and also ranks third with 21 top-five finishes.
Janangelo's sophomore season was one of the best in collegiate golf history, as she won four tournaments with a then school-record 71.10 stroke average. That year, she he also broke the school record for even or under-par rounds (19), 18-hole score (65), and 36-hole score (134). Janangelo went on to be named the 2004 Player of the Year, recipient of the 2004 Golfstat Cup, and was a member of the 1994 U.S. Curtis Cup Team.
As a junior, Janangelo carded a 62 on Oct. 31, 2004 at the ACC/SEC Challenge, which was the lowest 18-hole ledger in NCAA history at the time. It currently ranks tied for the fourth lowest round in NCAA history. Janangelo helped lead Duke to the 2005 and 2006 NCAA Championships, while also winning four straight ACC titles.
