DURHAM, N.C. – Behind a .430 hitting percentage, No. 25 Louisville swept Duke 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-14) Friday evening in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
The Blue Devils were unable to stop the Cardinals' offense as Louisville hit .430 percent with 47 kills and just seven errors while the Blue Devils hit just a .119 clip. With the loss, Duke falls to 1-4 in the ACC as Louisville remains undefeated.
Offensively, Duke was led by junior
Payton Schwantz with 10 kills followed by sophomore
Ade Owokoniran with eight and only three errors to hit .294 for the match. Setters
Sarah Nelson and
Camille Nazor split time on the court and dished 15 and 11 assists, respectively, while libero
Mackenzie Cole added 10 digs.
The Cardinals came out hot to hit .389 in the first set with 17 kills and limited Duke to just .143 with help from Louisville's six blocks. Duke had four blocks of its own from
Lily Cooper¸
Gracie Johnson,
Lizzie Fleming and Schwantz.
The Blue Devils hit just .083 in the second frame before closing out the match hitting .133 percent in the third as Owokoniran added three kills and no errors.
Louisville was led by Anna Stevenson with 11 kills and setter Tori Dilfer added 34 assists.
Duke will remain at home to host Notre Dame for a 3 p.m., match Sunday in Cameron Indoor Stadium on ACC Network.
