CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Senior Maria Sheridan, junior Susan Hynes and freshman Carly Perri all posted top-two finishes Sunday to close out the Janis Hape Dowd Carolina College Nike Invitational at Koury Natatorium.
Sheridan claimed the women's 200-yard backstroke (1:59.72) after turning in a career-best performance during the morning session. She went 1:59.32 in that performance for ninth on the Blue Devils' all-time top 10.
Hynes added a second victory for Duke in the women's 200 breaststroke, improving upon her preliminaries swim with a swift 2:16.14 showing in finals. That mark was good for sixth on the program's all-time performance list.
In the women's 200 butterfly, Perri was second overall at 2:02.78, dropping time from preliminaries as well.
The morning session in Chapel Hill also saw senior Isabella Paez earn a school and meet record in the 200 butterfly, as she tapped the wall at 1:54.93. That clocking reset her previous program record of 1:56.04.
Duke's women and the program's divers will compete at the 2018 ACC Championships Feb. 14-17 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
