DURHAM, N.C.—Duke sophomore goalkeeper Will Pulisic and junior midfielder Brandon Williamson were named to the ACC All-Tournament Team following the conclusion of the ACC Men's Soccer Championship Sunday afternoon. The duo's play stood out in the Blue Devils' heartbreaking 2-1 loss to North Carolina in the ACC Championship semifinals.
The Blue Devils are awaiting their NCAA Tournament fate Monday when the 48-team bracket is revealed on NCAA.com at 1 p.m.
Duke, sporting a 10-6-2 record and No. 11 RPI, anticipates a top 16 seed to earn a first-round bye. The remaining 32 teams will play in first-round games midweek.
All-ACC first-team choice Daniele Proch headlines the offense with 11 goals and 26 points. Conference Rookie of the Year Issa Rayyan is next behind him with five tallies and 13 points. Brandon Williamson is the engine for the Blue Devils, keeping play organized yet dynamic in the center of the field. He also garnered second team All-ACC recognition for his play throughout the season.
Will Pulisic helps to anchor an inexperienced and young defense featuring a freshman, a sophomore and a first- year defender. He made a season-high five saves in the semifinal game and owns a 1.20 goals against average and a .690 save percentage this season. Pulisic, playing all but 10 minutes this season, has five shutouts in 2018 and 12 for his career.
Duke's selection in the NCAA Tournament will be the 27th in program history. The Blue Devils advanced to the third round before falling to Fordham in penalty kicks. Duke is 31-24-2 all-time in NCAA postseason play.
