DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men's tennis team concluded its fall season Sunday with one flight championship and four other victories at the Wake Forest Fall Invitational. Senior Jason Lapidus finished his undefeated singles weekend, winning the B2 flight title with a 6-0, 6-4 victory against Indiana's Brandon Lam.
Junior Spencer Furman captured third place in the A2 flight with a Sunday win against the draw's second seed, No. 111 Gianni Ross of Virginia, 6-2, 1-6, 6-4. Classmate Nick Stachowiak dropped his finals tilt in the A1 draw. Junior Robert Levine rebounded with a pair of wins after consecutive losses began his weekend. He capped his fall with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 victory against the A1 draw's top seed, Azwin Lizen of Virginia. Lizen began the fall ranked No. 23 in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association ledger.
In doubles, Lapidus and Furman lost in their flight championship match while Stachowiak and sophomore Sean Sculley picked up third place in their draw.
The Blue Devils return to action in January with the start of the dual match campaign.
