CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Duke women's tennis team's run came to an end Saturday at the 2018 ITA Regional at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina.
Doubles partners of senior Kaitlyn McCarthy and junior Meible Chi concluded their time in Chapel Hill in the quarterfinals of doubles as they fell to Cameron Morra and Makenna Jones of North Carolina, 8-6.
In the round of 16 singles action, McCarthy, ranked No. 84 in the ITA preseason rankings, fell to No. 27 Sara Daavettila of North Carolina (4-6, 6-3, 6-0) while Chi (No. 31) came up short against Morra (6-3, 6-1). Morra was tabbed No. 6 on the newcomers ITA preseason list.
The Blue Devils will return to the courts Friday, Nov. 2 through Sunday, Nov. 4 for the Kitty Harrison Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
