Baseball Releases Fall Schedule

DURHAM, N.C. – Sixteen intrasquad scrimmages, including the team's annual Fall World Series, highlight the Duke baseball 2016 fall schedule as announced by head coach Chris Pollard Tuesday. All scrimmages are open to the public, giving fans the opportunity to catch the Blue Devils in action this fall.

Duke returns 23 letterwinners and eight starters from this past season's 33-24 team that earned the program's first NCAA Tournament bid since 1961. The Blue Devils return both 2016 All-ACC picks in sophomore outfielder Jimmy Herron and junior third baseman/right-hander Jack Labosky, while also adding 10 freshmen and one graduate student transfer into the mix.

After beginning the 2016 season 10-13 (1-7 ACC), the Blue Devils went 23-9 over their final 32 regular season games, including a 13-8 ACC record. During that span, Duke went 9-7 against Top 20 RPI teams, collected series victories over Georgia Tech, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Florida State and Pitt, and posted a perfect 10-0 mark in non-conference play.

With 33 wins this past season, Duke reached the 30-win mark for the third straight year, marking the program's first stretch of three-straight 30-win seasons since the Blue Devils compiled a run of seven consecutive 30-win seasons from 1992-98.
