DURHAM, N.C. – Eight members of the Duke women's lacrosse team have been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)'s 2016 Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the organization Friday. The Blue Devils' eight selections for the 2016 edition of the honor roll led all ACC institutions and marked a program record.
Duke was also one of just six schools nationwide with eight or more student-athletes on the 2016 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.
Recent graduates Kaki Jennison and Jordan McCarthy and rising seniors Helen Cammerzell, Stuart Humphrey, Isabelle Montagne, Devon Russell, Paige Russell and Hayley Shaffer were among the student-athletes from 96 different institutions to be recognized. In order to be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
Jennison and McCarthy were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll for the second consecutive season. Both graduated from Duke in May as four-year members of the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
Duke was also tabbed an Academic Honor Squad for the 2016 season, as released by the IWLCA earlier this week. The program was one of 276 schools across Div. I, II and III and the NAIA to be recognized for earning a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Duke completed the 2016 campaign with an 11-9 ledger and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Devils were also ranked 11th in the final IWLCA poll of the season.
