After setting the Duke records in both the women's 100 and 200 over the first two weeks, sophomore sprinter Maddy Price set her gaze on the women's 400 record this weekend. Price finished second overall with a time of 53.70, the second-fastest time in Duke history. Junior Madeline Kopp, the current school-record holder in the event with a time of 52.74, placed fifth in the race with a 54.35 clocking. In the men's 400, sophomore Brett Bofinger clocked a 48.80 to finish seventh in his first outdoor 400 of the 2016 season.
Duke added two top-five finishes in the 400-meter hurdles, led by redshirt senior Teddi Maslowski running a 1:00.62 to finish fourth overall in the women's race. For the men, junior Michael Wilson registered a time of 55.04 to take fifth.
In the field events, Duke was led by its high jumpers. In the men's competition, freshman Rivers Ridout and sophomores Colt Sessions and Andrew Pancoast all cleared 6-6.75 (2.00m) to place fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. Junior Maddie Morrow picked up a top-five placing of her own on the women's side, registering a season-best jump of 5-7.00 (1.70m).
The Blue Devils recorded three more sixth-place finishes elsewhere in the field events, starting with redshirt senior Thomas Lang in the men's javelin, throwing the implement 202-4 (61.67m). Freshmen Nati Sheppard and Domonique Panton also placed sixth in their respective events, as Sheppard cleared a season-best 12-9.50 (3.90m) in the women's pole vault and Panton registered a wind-aided mark of 38-8.75 (11.80m) in the women's triple jump.
