GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following her historic performance at this past weekend's Duke Invitational, senior pole vaulter Megan Clark was named the ACC Women's Field Performer of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday. It is the second consecutive week Clark has been awarded the distinction and the third time overall during the 2016 outdoor campaign.
Competing Saturday in the women's pole vault invitational event, Clark broke her own outdoor school record for the third time this month, clearing 15-2.25 (4.63m). The vault also shatters the ACC and Morris Williams Stadium records and currently ranks as the second-best height among NCAA competitors this spring.
In the NCAA outdoor records book, Clark's performance moves her up to No. 4 in the all-time standings, trailing only Arkansas' Sandi Morris (4.72m), Stephen F. Austin's Demi Payne (4.71m) and Arkansas' Alexis Weeks (4.64m). Before ending her day, Clark attempted and nearly cleared 15-5.75 (4.72m), a height that would have matched Morris' NCAA record.
Clark and the rest of the Blue Devils will cap their regular season by traveling to Philadelphia to compete at the Penn Relays April 28-30.
