DURHAM, N.C. – More than 20 years ago, Peyton Manning arrived at the University of Tennessee and was tutored by offensive coordinator/quarterback coach David Cutcliffe. The bond between the two has only strengthened over time. With Manning announcing his retirement from the NFL after an 18-year career, Cutcliffe looked back on Manning's career and the impact he has made.
Manning is a five-time NFL MVP, two-time NFL Offensive Player of the Year, 14-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time Super Bowl champion.
While at Tennessee under Cutcliffe's guidance, Manning set a host of career records, including most completions, most passing attempts, highest completion percentage, most passing yards and most touchdown passes. He was a Consensus All-America honoree as a senior in 1997, when he was named the SEC Championship MVP and Player of the Year.
