DURHAM, N.C. – Senior Kathryn Eckhart was named the ACC Co-Female Swimmer of the Week Tuesday following a strong individual performance at the Carolina College Invitational.
Eckhart, who hails from Houston, Texas, claimed wins in two events over the weekend in Koury Natatorium. Her time of 50.14 in the 100-yard freestyle A final marked the fifth-fastest in program history. She also raced to the wall first in the 50 freestyle, clocking a season best 23.08, and added a season-best time in the 100 backstroke (56.09), finishing third overall.
A team captain, Eckhart ranks among the squad's leaders in the 50 and 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke this season.
North Carolina's Rachel Canty was also tabbed the ACC Co-Female Swimmer of the Week for her swims at the Carolina College Invitational.
The Blue Devil women and divers take their turn at the ACC Championships next week, competing Feb. 17-20 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
