DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off competing with the U-20 Women's National Team recently, Duke signee
Brooke Heinsohn has been selected to travel to La Manga, Spain for three matches with the U.S. U-18 Women's National Team.
Heinsohn, who hails from Norfolk, Mass., will travel to southwest Spain from February 27 through March 7 to compete against U-19 teams. The squad will be coached by April Heinrichs, who has called up 22 players for the trip. All
The U.S. will face Denmark on March 3, England on March 5 and finish with Norway on March 7.
Heinsohn, a 6-1 goalkeeper, led The Rivers School to a 16-0-3 record and the New England Prep School Athletic Council Class B tournament championship this past season. She allowed only two goals in 10 matches and recorded shutouts in all three NEPSAC tournament games. Heinsohn was recently named the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Massachusetts. She is rated as the No. 1 goalkeeper and the No. 24 overall player in the 2016 class by TopDrawerSoccer.com. Heinsohn concluded her high school career with 50 shutouts.
All the players traveling to Spain are age-eligible for the team that will participate in the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup which has an age cut-off of players born on or after Jan. 1, 1996, but the goal for this age group is to ultimately qualify for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.
