DURHAM, N.C.—Considered to be one of the top scoring threats for the United States Under-20 Men's National Team, former Duke men's soccer player Jeremy Ebobisse will don the U.S. crest again in the team's international camp in San Jose, Costa Rica. Ebobisse is one of 20 players picked to participate by head coach Tab Ramos U.S. Soccer announced December 8.
The U-20 MNT will play two friendlies during the international camp as the squad continues to prepare for the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. This international camp will run from Dec. 13-20. The 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship will be held at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica in San Jose and the Estadio Ricardo Saprissa in Tibas from Feb. 17 – March 5. The CONCACAF Championship serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea.
“This will be a great opportunity for our players to get acclimated to Costa Rica and get a sense of what they can expect in February.” Ramos said. “The chance to play Costa Rica twice will be a good test for our guys to see where they stand against the host nation, who is playing at a very high level.”
Ebobisse has been a mainstay with the U-20 MNT, helping it to capture the NTC Invitational over the summer. He finished the three-game tournament held in California with three goals and an assist, including the game winner against Japan.
The Bethesda, Md., native secured his first career hat trick in a U.S. jersey, scoring three goals against Netherlands in a friendly in October. He started two of the three games in Europe as the United States fell to Germany, England and Netherlands in the friendlies.
