Giles-Harris a USA TODAY Sports Freshman All-America

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke redshirt freshman linebacker Joe Giles-Harris was named to the USA TODAY Sports Freshman All-America team, according to an announcement by the publication.
Earlier this month, Giles-Harris was named honorable mention All-ACC by both the league's coaches and the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. This marks the 14th consecutive campaign the Blue Devils have had at least one freshman All-America pick, dating back to the 2003 season.
Giles-Harris, a redshirt freshman from Nyack, N.Y., led the Blue Devils in total tackles with 107 while contributing 9.5 tackles for loss, 4.0 quarterback sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery, two pass breakups and four QB pressures on the year. He stands fifth in the league in tackles per game (8.92).
The November 14 ACC Linebacker of the Week, Giles-Harris led all ACC freshmen with 107 tackles while standing second in the nation among rookie tacklers, behind only Texas State's Bryan London with 123. Giles-Harris's 9.5 tackles for lost yardage were tied for the second most among ACC freshmen.
Giles-Harris finished the year with the third most tackles by a Duke freshman in program history and the fifth most TFL by a Blue Devil rookie. He booked 16 stops against No. 15 North Carolina, tied for the seventh most in a game by a Duke freshman.
The ACC had six representatives on the Freshman All-America squad with Giles-Harris, Miami wide receiver Ahmmon Richards, Florida State defensive lineman Brian Burns, Clemson defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence, Wake Forest safety Jessie Bates and North Carolina punter Tom Sheldon named to the team.
