DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's lacrosse head coach Kerstin Kimel and the Blue Devil staff welcomed the addition of six freshmen and one graduate student to the program for the 2017 campaign. Goalkeeper Gabbe Cadoux comes to Duke from West Friendship, Md.

Goalkeeper l Ellicott City, Md. l McDonogh
Prior to Duke: Cadoux completed her prep career in between the pipes at McDonogh, helping the program claim its eighth consecutive Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) A Conference championship this past spring. She garnered Under Armour All-America recognition as a senior, matching the North vs. South All-Star Game record for the second-most saves in the annual contest. Cadoux served as a team captain her senior year as McDonogh extended its win streak to 155 consecutive contests.
What is your best lacrosse memory?
GC: Standing in goal for the first time as a freshman on the No. 1 nationally-ranked McDonogh Girls Varsity Lacrosse team.
When did you start playing lacrosse?
GC: I grew up in Maryland – a lacrosse hotbed – so I started playing lacrosse as a field player in fifth grade. I moved to the position of goalie full-time my freshman year of high school. The competition, the coaching and the facilities were always first rate.
Who has had the largest impact on your life?
GC: My mother has been my biggest supporter and my rock. Actually all of my family and friends have been by my side and cheered me on in all facets of my life. Finally, being a part of the McDonogh community is something that I will forever cherish.
Why did you choose Duke?
GC: For its mix of stellar academics and athletics.
What are your goals for your collegiate career?
GC: To leave Duke feeling that I had an amazing experience, to meet many life-long friends, to enjoy being part of a collegiate lacrosse team and to feel like I gave back to the local community.

Hobbies: I love to play the piano and am very interested in music and theatre. I also love to travel.

If you were to play another sport, what would it be? Tennis
Hidden talent: I play the piano and dabble in writing music
What do you plan to major in? Something pertaining to medicine – too early to tell what will be the best fit
Best advice you've ever received: Always take the high road ...
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Happily practicing medicine, spending time with family and friends and travelling
