DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's lacrosse head coach Kerstin Kimel and the Blue Devil staff welcomed the addition of six freshmen and one graduate student to the program for the 2017 campaign. Midfielder Lexi Rieu comes to Duke from West Friendship, Md.

Midfield l West Friendship, Md. l Our Lady of Good Counsel
Prior to Duke: A three-time first team all-conference choice, Rieu was also a first team All-America selection as a junior. She posted 132 goals and 64 assists during her prep career to go along with 260 draw controls, 79 ground balls and 67 caused turnovers. Rieu garnered honorable mention All-Met laurels as a senior and also starred in field hockey for Our Lady of Good Counsel, going on to receive the school's Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year award.
What is your best lacrosse memory?
LR: Winning the WCAC championship for two years and playing with my sister my senior year.
When did you start playing lacrosse?
LR: I started playing lacrosse when I was seven years old. I was eager to learn and never gave up. My dad coached me for four years and helped me become a better player.
Who has had the largest impact on your life?
LR: My grandmother because she always had a positive attitude and would give the best advice. She fought cancer for four years and never gave up. She always inspired me to try new things and to follow my dreams.
Why did you choose Duke?
LR: I chose Duke because I wanted to be able to compete in lacrosse at the highest level and be challenged academically at the highest level.
What are your goals for your collegiate career?
LR: To discover a passion that I want to pursue after school, meet great friends, learn something new every day and be involved on campus.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I want to have a successful and sustainable job that I enjoy
