What is your best lacrosse memory?
LR: When we beat our rival school, Nobles, with three seconds left in the game, coming back from a four-goal deficit.
When did you start playing lacrosse?
LR: I started playing lacrosse when I was 14 years old for the Bow Youth Lacrosse Program.
Who has had the largest impact on your life?
LR: My mom. She is my inspiration and every time I step on the field I play for my mom. She has been with me every step of the way through my athletic and academic career and I would not have been given this amazing opportunity to study at an exceptional school and play for an incredible lacrosse program without her. She has pushed me to pursue my dreams and does everything in her power to make sure I reach them. She is a saint.
Why did you choose Duke?
LR: I chose Duke because it has an incredible medical program, one of the top lacrosse programs in the country and has an unbelievable coaching staff. I immediately felt at home the moment I stepped on campus.
What are your goals for your collegiate career?
LR: To win a national championship and to reach my maximum potential as a lacrosse player and teammate.
Quick Hitters:
Favorite athlete: Mia Hamm. She said one of my favorite quotes, “Somewhere behind the athlete you've become and the hours of practice and the coaches who have pushed you is a little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back … play for her.”
Hobbies: Snapchat, Grey's Anatomy and taking my dog, Stella, to the docks to go swimming in the summer
Favorite movie: Remember the Titans
Favorite TV show: Grey's Anatomy
Favorite book: Unbroken
Favorite musician: Drake
Pregame ritual/superstition: I have been listening to a motivational video called “The Grind” since my freshman year before every game. I also have to have three small braids in my ponytail
If you were to play another sport, what would it be? Soccer
Interesting fact about yourself: I did 100 pushups on my knuckles on gravel for my brown belt in karate in sixth grade
Best advice you've ever received: “When your time comes and a thousand different voices are trying to tell you, you aren't ready for it, listen instead to that lone voice of dissent. The one that says you are ready, you are prepared, it's all up to you now.”
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Hopefully saving lives in a hospital and signing my name followed by M.D.
To be a part of the Duke women's lacrosse program is … a dream come true.
