SPARKS, Md. – Former Duke All-American Sarah Bullard has been named to the United States' 2017 World Cup Training Team, as announced by US Lacrosse Thursday. Bullard was one of 25 players selected from a 36-player pool.
The announcement of the 25-player roster was made following the Team USA Fall Classic, held last weekend in Maryland. The event saw Team USA go 4-0 against Australia, Canada, England and the University of North Carolina, with the U.S. outscoring its opponents by a combined 79-29 margin. Bullard and current Blue Devil senior Maura Schwitter were both in action for the U.S. squad.
A 2011 graduate of Duke, Bullard was a two-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-America selection in the midfield. She was twice tabbed a nominee for the Tewaaraton Award in addition to earning All-ACC and All-ACC Tournament recognition. She continues to rank among the program's all-time leaders in career points, goals, draw controls, caused turnovers and assists.
Bullard was previously a member of the 2009 and 2013 U.S. World Cup Championship squads, and will look to make the 18-player roster that will represent the U.S. as it goes for a third consecutive and eighth overall world title.
The 2017 World Cup Training Team will compete in Florida next January at the Team USA Spring Premiere, while the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup is slated for July 13-22 in Guildford, England.
