DURHAM, N.C. – Two-time All-American Kerrin Maurer has been named an assistant coach at Mount St. Mary's, as announced this week by head coach Lauren Schwarzmann. Maurer, who graduated from Duke in May as the Blue Devils' career assists leader, begins her coaching career with the Mountaineers in Emmitsburg, Md.
Maurer concluded an outstanding collegiate career by leading Duke to the NCAA semifinals for the first time since 2011. She received first team All-America distinction from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and Lacrosse Magazine, and was also a first team All-South Region and All-ACC selection. The Tewaaraton Award nominee paced the Blue Devils in points, goals, assists and draw controls as a senior, ranking second on the program's single-season draw controls chart with 81 in 21 contests.
A native of Setauket, N.Y., Maurer solidified her rank among the top offensive players in program history during her senior campaign, becoming Duke's career assists leader with 119 over her four seasons. She graduated tied for fifth in ACC history in career assists and as the Blue Devils' second-leading point scorer (280).
A political science major at Duke, Maurer was a two-time All-ACC Academic Team selection and a three-year member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
Over the summer, Maurer was named to the Italian national women's lacrosse team.
