DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University sophomore
Leona Maguire carded a final round of three-under-par, 68, on her way to placing tied 34th overall at the Evian Championship, which was played at the Evian Resort Golf Club in France.
Maguire, a native of Cavan, Ireland, became the first women's golfer from the Republic of Ireland to make the cut at a major championship.
Over the four days, Maguire posted rounds of 72, 73, 73 and 68 for a two-over-par, 286. Maguire registered five birdies in Sunday's final round, including three over her final seven holes to move up the leaderboard. She finished as the low amateur for the tournament.
Duke senior
Celine Boutier missed the cut with rounds of 78 and 80. Lydia Ko took home the title with a 16-under-par, 268.
The Evian Championship marked the fifth and final major of the 2015 LPGA season.
The Duke duo will open the 2015-16 campaign at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate Sept. 27-29 in Orlando, Fla.
