BRADENTON, Fla. – The Duke women's golf team continued its stellar play at the 2015 NCAA Championship Sunday even though play was suspended for the third straight afternoon at the 6,468-yard, par 72 Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
Duke remained in second place with a 31-over-par ledger and trails Southern California with a 28-over score. Both teams have five or fewer holes to finish Monday, which will kick off at 7:30 a.m. Sunday's play was suspended at 8:21 p.m., due to darkness.
“A very long day, but they seemed to have been fighting right to the end,” said Duke head coach
Dan Brooks. “I heard about some fatigue. I spent most of my time with Lisa [Maguire] because we are involved with some things with her swing. I did on the backside get to meet with everybody while they were still out on the golf course and everybody seemed to be absolutely tuned in and playing hard. That is a lot on a golf course like this on a long hot day.”
The top 15 teams following the third round will advance to Monday's final day of action. Rounding out the current top 15 is Arizona (+41, 905), Tennessee (+44, 13-16 holes), Baylor (+46, 910), Purdue (+47, 911), Stanford (+48, 912), Washington (+50, 914), UC Davis (+51, 915), Northwestern (+52, 916), Arkansas (+55, 919), Texas Tech (+56, 920), South Carolina (+59, 13-18 holes), Wake Forest (+60, 13-18 holes) and Alabama (+63, 927).
