DURHAM, N.C. – Former Duke wide receiver Issac Blakeney has agreed to terms with the San Francisco 49ers to join the NFL organization as an undrafted free agent.
In 40 career games with 18 starts, including all 13 of his senior year, Blakeney caught 98 passes for 1,093 yards (11.15 ypc) and 12 touchdowns. He ended his career having caught at least one pass in 19 consecutive games and had one or more reception in 36 of 40 career outings.
Blakeney hauled in two or more receptions in 24 career games, including a career-high seven catches against Wake Forest in 2014. The Monroe, N.C., native had 40 or more receiving yards in 10 career games with a career-long catch of 54 yards, against N.C. Central (2012) and Syracuse (2014). He closed his career ranking tied for 13th on Duke's all-time chart for TD catches and tied for 19th on the school's all-time list for pass receptions.
As a senior, Blakeney caught 47 passes for 559 yards (11.89 ypc) and seven touchdowns. He led Duke in receiving TDs while ranking second on the squad in both catches and yards. His seven touchdowns matched the 14th-highest single-season total in Blue Devil history. In a standout last home game, Blakeney set career highs for pass receptions (seven) and receiving yardage (107) in the regular season finale against Wake Forest. In the win over the Demon Deacons, he also paired with Jamison Crowder (102) to post the 19th game in Duke history with two players registering 100 or more receiving yards.
