DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men's tennis team and head coach Ramsey Smith announced the squad's spring schedule on Monday. The slate is highlighted by 14 home dates, including the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, and the ACC Tournament in Cary, N.C.
The Blue Devils will open the spring campaign Friday, January 15, hosting Elon. Duke then faces Kentucky on Sunday, January 17.
The team continues the season-opening home stand with the ITA Kick-Off Weekend January 23-24. The Blue Devils, who are one of 15 programs hosting the annual ITA event, will be joined by California, San Diego and Vanderbilt in Durham. The winning team advances to the ITA Team Indoor Championship February 12-15 in Charlottesville, Va.
Rounding out the home stand are visits from Illinois on Friday, January 29, and Northwestern and N.C. Central for a doubleheader on Sunday, January 31.
Duke will have its final weekend to get ready for the ITA Team Indoor Championship with a weekend trip to Knoxville, Tenn., on Friday, February 5, and Ann Arbor, Mich., on Sunday, February 7, to face Tennessee and Michigan, respectively.
Following the ITA Team Indoor Championship event, Duke hosts North Carolina A&T and UNC Charlotte on Saturday, February 20. The team has its last doubleheader the following Saturday, February 27, welcoming Coastal Carolina and Furman to Durham.
The Blue Devils then have slightly more than a week off before opening ACC play against Georgia Tech on Sunday, March 6. The next weekend, Duke takes its first road trip of the league season, traveling to Miami on Friday, March 11, and to Florida State on Sunday, March 13. The Blue Devils continue the road trips the following weekend, heading to Notre Dame on Friday, March 18, and Boston College on Sunday, March 20.
Continuing ACC play, Duke hosts Virginia Tech on Friday, March 25, and Louisville on Sunday, March 27. The Blue Devils open the next weekend down the road at N.C. State on Friday, April 1, before returning home to host reigning ACC regular season and tournament champion Virginia on Sunday, April 3. Duke heads to Wake Forest on Saturday, April 9, for its lone match the next weekend.
Rounding out the home schedule and final weekend of regular season play are Clemson on Friday, April 15, and North Carolina on Sunday, April 17.
The ACC Championship will take place at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C., April 21-24.
The 2016 NCAA Championships will begin with regional action May 14-15. The University of Tulsa will serve as the host site for the Round of 16 through the championship, which is scheduled for May 24. Tulsa, Okla., is also the site for the NCAA Individual Championships, which run May 25-30.
