Susan Cummings Jenner '81 (Club Lacrosse)
Current City/State: Annapolis, Md.
Major at Duke: Psychology, nursing
Favorite Duke women's lacrosse memory: Representing the state of North Carolina (since Duke had the only women's lax team, club or non club in N.C.) at tournaments as the NC state champions!
Proudest accomplishment at Duke: Enjoying my classes, sports and working at the East End Health Clinic which all made for a very rich Duke education.
Additional degrees earned after Duke: MD and MPH from Johns Hopkins
Current occupation: Pediatric Cardiologist at the Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Any other fun facts we should know? I have three children and I have been able to continue to enjoy lacrosse. Our oldest, Liv Jenner (pictured with Susan below), is now a freshman on Duke's current women's lacrosse team! I couldn't have hoped for anything more - so cool!
Claire DiLorenzo Paquin '97 (Club Lacrosse)
Current City/State: Scarsdale, N.Y.
Major at Duke: English, French
Favorite Duke women's lacrosse memory: I have two! One is winning the "game ball" versus Lehigh at home. Near the end we were down by a lot. I was put in and scored a bunch of goals in a row! We still lost (by 1 goal, I think) but it was an exciting moment for me and the team. The other is being the architect of the "Nerd Van" and the "Cool Van" for our road trip games - it was a funny (and practical!) way to divide up the team. I was always in the Nerd Van, needless to say!
Proudest accomplishment at Duke: How can I choose? Just being at Duke is a great accomplishment! I have a few things I am proud of: being a double major in English and French, being a student-athlete who served as an academic tutor to student-athletes and, of course, being a member of the inaugural Duke women's varsity lacrosse team!
Additional degrees earned after Duke: New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) - Interior Design degree
Current occupation: Founder, Owner, and Interior Designer at Clean Design
Any other fun facts we should know? I am married to JP Paquin and we have two daughters, Chloe (8) and Ursula (6). In 2008, I started my own interior design firm, Clean Design, with no experience or schooling. I went back to school to obtain my design degree and in the past seven years have built Clean Design, an award-winning design firm. We've completed over 50 interior design projects mostly in Manhattan, Westchester and Fairfield Counties, and our work has been published in many national and regional shelter magazines as well as been included in books about interior design. I have also been very involved in bolstering lacrosse in my hometown of Scarsdale, N.Y. I serve on the SYLA Board (Scarsdale Youth Lacrosse Association) as its Girls Commissioner and have coached kids from Kindergarten to fourth grade for three years. I also coach both my girls in basketball and softball!
Kendra Basner Mallen '99
Current City/State: San Francisco, Calif.
Major at Duke: Psychology & history
Favorite Duke women's lacrosse memory: I have many, but the two that stick out the most are: (1) Beating Maryland at home in just our third year of the program, which was particularly special because at the time Maryland was the reigning powerhouse, ultimately winning seven straight NCAA D1 titles. Winning that game was a huge confidence builder and I believe it changed the tide of our season and the program overall; and, (2) Standing up on stage with my co-captains at the Final Four banquet for our program's debut and speaking on behalf of our team and the university was a very proud moment for me as a member of the inaugural 95-96 team. I still remember that speech about the iceberg - the perfect exemplification of a team made up of club players, walk-ons and few scholarship athletes. We were not the fastest, most skilled or experienced squad, but we worked hard, were determined, believed in one another and bonded together as a team to raise each other up. I'm pretty sure I still have that speech tucked away somewhere.
Proudest accomplishment at Duke: Simply being a part of the group of amazing women who turned a brand new, no-name program into one of the best in the nation in just four years! I am in awe of each of my teammates to this day. My freshman year, the first year of the program, we had just three scholarship players. Our squad was comprised of mostly club players and walk-ons, girls who were making sacrifices and a huge commitment purely because they loved the sport. It was inspiring to be around so many incredible women who were so ambitious and hard-working in every aspect of life. We pushed each other beyond expectations both on and off the field. The many lessons I learned from my teammates during my four-years at Duke undoubtedly carried over into my personal and professional life today.
Additional degrees earned after Duke: Law - J.D.

Any other fun facts we should know? I moved to California in 2004, met and married my perfect match, Seth Mallen, and now have two awesomely spunky children. My daughter, Brey, just turned six years old and my son, Kade, turned four years old in July.

Ifeanyi Onyeacholem '99 (Team Manager)
Current City/State: San Diego, Calif.

Shannon Chaney '00
Current City/State: Walpole, N.H.
Major at Duke: English
Favorite Duke women's lacrosse memory: I have several memories from significant wins, like 1998 - beating Maryland at home in Koskinen; then in 1999, going to the program's first Final Four. But that year, 1999, my dad was in town and saw us beat James Madison to go to the Final Four. We went to downtown Durham and both got tattoos.
Proudest accomplishment at Duke: Changing my major from pre-med to English, though it was a pretty scary choice which made my parents question my sanity. I took one class in American Lit, and it blew my mind, and turned out to be the motivating factor in my change in major and decision to become a writer. And that professor agreed to be my advisor, after some (gentle) badgering and coffee bribes.
Additional degrees earned after Duke: M.A. in Social Justice and Nonprofit Management, SIT Graduate Institute
Current occupation: Communications Consultant/Writer; Stay-at-Home Mom
Any other fun facts we should know? I moved to England a few months after graduating, traveled all across Europe writing the draft of my first collection of character journal short stories. My partner, Russell, and I welcomed our daughter, Miles, in June 2012.
I also work seasonally for L.A. Burdick's Chocolates in Walpole, N.H. They pay me AND I get free chocolate :)

Keri Dunn Kern '00

Favorite Duke women's lacrosse memory: Beating No. 2 Maryland my sophomore year. Huge upset.
Proudest accomplishment at Duke: Playing two sports (field hockey/lax) and keeping it all in balance with academics.
Current occupation: Director of Athletics at New Canaan Country School
Any other fun facts we should know? Coached Mass Elite and Granite State Elite club lacrosse teams, while working at Groton School in Mass. Gave that up when I moved to Conn. to "settle down" with my husband Greg and into my current life as working mom of two (Topher 4 and Taylor 3). I still coach field hockey and lacrosse, while serving as AD at my current school. It's been so fun and rewarding coaching so many that have moved on to Div. I programs and watching their success and enjoyment of it all.

Connecting and engaging with former athletes is the purpose but bigger things may come in the future.

Mollie Mackler '12
Current City/State: Boston, Mass.
Major at Duke: Psychology, Markets and Management
Favorite Duke women's lacrosse memory: Off the field, every team bonding trip-- especially Wrightsville Beach our freshman year. On the field-- moments between teammates that you will never forget that can only occur in the sports most competitive stage.
Proudest accomplishment at Duke: 2011 Final Four and beating Maryland on Koskinen as a senior
Additional degrees earned after Duke: Planning on attending business school, but no plans to pursue quite yet. Have attended multiple sales schools.
Current occupation: Analytics software sales at IBM, and now an IBM business partner. I've developed a deep interest and passion for selling that related directly to the incredible level of competition I was so fortunate to experience while playing for Kerstin at Duke.
