DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's lacrosse head coach Kerstin Kimel has announced the program's 2014 fall schedule, which kicks off this weekend with a scrimmage against ACC opponent North Carolina in Durham.
Duke will face the Tar Heels Friday, Sept. 26 at 3 p.m., before heading to the state of Virginia next weekend. There the Blue Devils will visit George Mason for a scrimmage Saturday, Oct. 4 and take part in the annual Play for Parkinson's Fall Lacrosse Series Sunday, Oct. 5.
The Play for Parkinson's Lacrosse series showcases top NCAA lacrosse talent to benefit the ProjectSpark Foundation. Dedicated to the eradication of Parkinson's disease in our lifetime and to the amelioration of the effects of the disease for all those directly and indirectly affected, the ProjectSpark Foundation seeks to complement the efforts of other institutions focused on this debilitating disease by finding those points of leverage where a “spark” will help ignite the solutions needed to unlock a cure.
The day-long event will see the Blue Devils go up against Georgetown, Maryland and Penn State.
Duke continues fall action the weekend of Oct. 25 and 26, welcoming Michigan and Florida for a pair of scrimmages in Durham Saturday the 25th and hosting the program's annual Duke Fall Invitational Sunday the 26th.
The Blue Devils return 25 letterwinners and nine starters from last year's team, which went 11-8 and reached the NCAA quarterfinals for the 10th consecutive season.
