DURHAM, N.C. – The preseason seventh-ranked Duke women's golf team will open the 2014-15 campaign Sept. 14-16 at the Cougar Classic, which will be played at the 6,204-yard, par 72 Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, S.C.
Competing this weekend will be Arkansas, Baylor, UCF, Charleston Southern, Clemson, College of Charleston, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Mississippi State, Missouri, North Carolina, NC State, UNCG, Penn State, Tennessee, UCLA, Virginia, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.
Duke will feature a lineup of senior
Irene Jung, junior
Yi Xiao sophomore
Sandy Choi, freshman
Leona Maguire and freshman
Lisa Maguire. The reigning WGCA National Player of the Year
Celine Boutier will not compete as she will be playing in The Evian Championship in France. Blue Devil freshman
Gurbani Singh is also not competing as she just returned from Japan where she played in the Women's World Amateur Team Championship for her home country of India.
The Blue Devils, who are the defending NCAA Champions, have been preseason ranked No. 7 nationally by Golfweek.
Duke last competed in the Cougar Classic in 2012 as the Blue Devils placed second overall with a three-day total of six-under-par, 858. Xiao, who is from China, opened her career with a tied for 10th finish, after carding rounds of 72, 74 and 68.
