DURHAM, N.C. – Senior defender Taylor Virden picked up additional national recognition Friday, earning a spot on the WomensLax.com All-America team for the second consecutive season.
Virden, who received first team All-America accolades from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association earlier this week, was one of 25 players from 17 institutions to receive the honor from WomensLax.com.
A Tewaaraton Award nominee and first team All-South Region and All-ACC pick for the second-straight year, Virden tallied a career-best 62 draw controls and 28 caused turnovers during her senior campaign. The Blue Devils' most experienced defender, she helped the squad limit opponents to 9.84 goals per game and hold 10 opposing teams to single-digit scoring. Virden reached the 100-ground ball mark for her career this spring and concluded her career ranked second all-time in program history with 184 draw controls over four seasons.
