DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Five former Duke women's golfers will be in action in the Final Stage of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament in Daytona Beach, Fla., Dec. 3-7 at LPGA International –Jones & Hill Courses. The list of past Blue Devils includes
Laetitia Beck,
Yu Liu,
Alejandra Cangrejo, Jennie Lee and
Lindy Duncan.
In Stage II of the Qualifying Tournament, Cangrejo was the top Blue Devil finisher, tying for 22nd among the field of 190. Liu and Beck followed their former teammate by tying for 41st and 78th, respectively.
Duncan will look to capture her LPGA Tour card after coming up just short in September. Needing to be ranked in the top 10 of Symetra Tour standings, Duncan finished 12th after placing tied for seventh at the Symetra Tour Championship.
Beck made her LPGA debut this past July at the RICOH Women's British Open, tying for 111th at the tournament, while Liu played in her first LPGA event in October, finishing in 72nd place at the Blue Bay LPGA in October.
Beck, Liu and Cangrejo were all members of the 2014 Duke team that went on to win the national championship this past spring, while Lee helped Duke to consecutive NCAA titles in 2006 and 2007.
The field will be made up of 154 golfers competing for membership on the LPGA Tour. The top 20 finishers will earn full-time status on the Tour, while those who placing between 21st and 45th will be rewarded with conditional status.
