Anthony Boone improved to 19-3 as a starting quarterback in regular-season games.
- Boone's nine wins this season are tied for the most by a Duke quarterback, equaling his nine wins in 2013.
- Boone's .750 winning percentage this season is the sixth best among Duke quarterbacks.
- Boone's overall winning percentage of .792 is second best among Duke quarterbacks behind Worth Lutz's .846 mark.
• Boone accounted for two touchdowns to lift his career total to 52, the sixth most in Duke history.
- His 22 TDs accounted for this season are the seventh most in a year by a Blue Devil.
• Boone's 304 yards of total offense lifted his career total to 6,367 yards, good for the sixth most in Duke history.
• Boone's one touchdown pass lifted his season total to 17, tied for the eighth most in a year in program history.
• Boone's 19 completions gave him 240 for the season, the eighth most in a year in program history. Ben Bennett (1983) owns the record with 300 completions.
• Boone rushed for his fifth touchdown of the season on Duke's opening drive of the game, matching his 2013 total.
- Boone's five rushing touchdowns in a season ranks tied for ninth all-time.
• Redshirt sophomore quarterback
Thomas Sirk recorded his third passing touchdown of the season, connecting with redshirt junior
David Reeves for an 18-yard pass, the longest passing touchdown of his career.
- The nine rushing TDs are tied for the 10th most by any Duke player in a year in program history.
• Senior wide receiver
Jamison Crowder hauled in eight passes for 102 yards. He now has 276 career receptions, trailing only former Blue Devil
Conner Vernon (2009-12/283 catches) for the all-time ACC and school records.
- Crowder secured his 15th career game with 100 or more receiving yards.
• The 102 yards pushed Crowder's total to 3,539, moving him into third on the ACC career chart. Vernon owns the league and Duke records with 3,749 yards.
• Crowder extended his consecutive games streak with two or more receptions to 40. The mark is the second longest streak among active NCAA receivers, trailing only East Carolina's Justin Hardy, who owns 46 consecutive games with two or more receptions.
• Crowder's eight receptions pushed his season total to 78, the third most in a year in Duke history. He set the school's single-season record in 2013 with 108 catches.
• Crowder caught one touchdown pass, a 52-yard reception from Boone, marking the first time this season and the 10th time in his career that Crowder caught a touchdown pass of 50+ yards.
• Crowder finished with 102 all-purpose yards to move up to sixth on the ACC career all-purpose chart with 5,372 yards. Clemson's C.J. Spiller (2006-09) holds the league record with 7,588 all-purpose yards.
• Crowder's 52-yard touchdown in the first quarter moves him into sole possession of third on the all-time Duke chart with 23 career receiving touchdowns.
• Redshirt senior wide receiver
Issac Blakeney caught seven passes for 107 yards, eclipsing the 100-yard mark for the first time in his career. Blakeney's seven receptions also surpassed his previous career best of six.
• Freshman
Shaun Wilson rushed for one touchdown, bringing his season total to five. Wilson's five rushing touchdowns in a season ranks tied for the third most by a freshman in program history.
• Wilson rushed for 22 yards to bring his season total to 590 yards, the second most by a rookie running back at Duke. B.J. Hill (1998) owns the record with 798 yards.
• Wilson's 22 all-purpose yards give him 769 for the season, the 10th most by a freshman in Duke history. Chris Douglas (2000) owns the record with 1,442 all-purpose yards.
• Redshirt sophomore right tackle
Casey Blaser scored his first career touchdown after recovering a
Thomas Sirk fumble in the end zone in the third quarter of the game.
• Senior linebacker
David Helton tallied six tackles, including three assists.
- He entered the game ranked second among active FBS players in career assisted tackles with 212.
- Helton began the contest leading the ACC and ranked 13th in the FBS in tackles per game this season with 10.82.
- Helton led the ACC in tackles in 2013 and could become just the sixth player to lead the league in tackles per game in consecutive years, and the first since current NFL All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly from 2009-11.
• Helton's six tackles increased his career total to 338, tied for the 10th most in program history. Mike Junkin (1983-86) owns the Duke record with 513 stops.
• Helton's six tackles give him 125 this season, tied for the 25th most in a year in program history. Junkin holds the single-season mark with 188 stops in 1986.
• Redshirt junior
Jeremy Cash recorded his third sack in as many games after bringing down Wake Forest's John Wolford for an eight-yard loss on the Demon Deacons' opening drive.
• Redshirt senior linebacker
C.J. France recorded his first career fumble recovery on a muffed punt by Wake Forest in the first quarter.
• Redshirt sophomore defensive tackle
A.J. Wolf recovered the first fumble of his career in the fourth quarter to secure the Duke victory.
• Redshirt sophomore safety
DeVon Edwards finished with 13 tackles and has recorded double-digit tackles for the eighth time in his career and five out of the last six games this season.
• Junior kicker
Ross Martin, the Duke career PAT record holder, converted five PATs and has made 106 consecutive PATs, extending his school record. Will Snyderwine (2009-11) held the previous high for consecutive PATs with 84.
- Martin's extra points lifted his season total to 46, tied for the third-most in a single season in Duke history. Martin owns the single-season record with 58 PATs in 2013.
- Martin's extra points also gave him 150 in his career, good for the ninth most in ACC history. Chandler Catanzaro (Clemson/2010-13) owns the record with 203 PATs.
• Martin made two field goals to bring his season total to 18, the third most in a year in program history. Snyderwine owns the single-season record with 21 field goals in 2010 while Martin had 20 in 2012.
- Martin hit a 45-yard field goal in the second quarter, improving to 4-for-5 from 40-49 yards this season.
• Martin has scored at least one point in 39 straight games.
• Senior offensive lineman
Laken Tomlinson started his 51st straight game, tied with three others for the longest streak among active NCAA FBS linemen.
TEAM NOTES• With the win, Duke improved to 9-3 overall, marking the first time Duke has ever had nine or more wins in consecutive seasons.
- It is just the sixth time Duke has reached nine or more wins: 1933, 1936, 1938, 1941 and 2013.
- The Blue Devils have just one 10-win season, in 2013.
• The Blue Devils' 10 wins a year ago and nine this season give Duke its winningest two-year stretch in program history.
- The previous high was 17 victories in 1935-36 and 1938-39.
• Duke finished the regular season with a .500 or better record for three straight years, a first for the Blue Devils since 1960-63.
• Duke improved to 5-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference to finish with a winning league record in consecutive years for the first time since 1960-65.
- Since joining the ACC in 1953, it is Duke's ninth time with five or more conference wins.
- It is the first time Duke has five or more ACC wins in consecutive years since a four-year stretch from 1960-63.
• The Blue Devils have won 11 ACC games in the last two years. It is the highest combined league win total during a two-year stretch since claiming 11 in 1962 (six) and 1963 (five).
- Duke has gone 11-3 in its last 14 ACC games, tied for the second best record in the conference during the stretch behind Florida State's 14-0 mark.
• Duke has won nine of its last 10 games against teams from the state of North Carolina (from Sept. 15, 2012 – Nov. 29, 2014).
- During the stretch, the Blue Devils have downed Wake Forest three times, North Carolina and N.C. Central twice and N.C. State and Elon once.
- The Blue Devils have won three consecutive games against the Demon Deacons for the first time since 1993-95.
• With the win, Duke is 7-2 in its last nine November contests. The Blue Devils had been 1-19 in November under head coach
David Cutcliffe before going 4-0 in November of 2013.
• The win snaps Duke's two-game losing streak and allows the Blue Devils to avoid their first three-game losing streak since dropping five consecutive contests to end the 2012 campaign.
- The consecutive seasons without at least one three-game losing streak is a first for Duke since the 1988-89 seasons.
• The Blue Devils have won their home finale in consecutive years for the first time since 1988-89.
• Duke won for the 17th time in its last 22 games. In the 10 seasons (114 games) prior to Cutcliffe taking over, Duke had just 17 wins.
• Duke recorded 21 points in the first quarter, marking the third time this season the Blue Devils scored 21 points in a quarter. Duke also scored 21 points in the second quarter against Elon (Aug. 30) and the second quarter against Troy (Sept. 6).
- The last time Duke scored 21 points in the first quarter of a game came against Tulane on Sept. 24, 2011.
• Duke scored 27 points in the first half, the second most in the first half of a game this season.
• Duke scored 41 points to lift its season total to 390, good for the third most in a year in program history.
- Of the five highest scoring seasons at Duke, three have come under Cutcliffe.
• The Blue Devils are averaging 32.5 points per game. Duke could finish the year with an average of 30.00 or more points per game for the third straight year, and just the sixth time in program history.
• Duke scored on its opening drive on a four-yard touchdown run by
Anthony Boone. Duke scored on its opening drive in six of the seven home games this season, five of which were touchdowns.
• Duke successfully recovered its own on-side kick for the first time this season
• Duke's defense allowed just XX rushing yards, marking the first time the Blue Devils held a team under 100-rushing yards since Memphis amassed just 89 yards on Sept. 7, 2013.
• The Blue Devils gained 439 yards in the contest to end the regular season averaging 398.17 yards per game.
- If Duke finishes the year averaging 400.00 or more yards per contest, it will be the third straight season with 400.00 or more yards a game, a feat accomplished just one other time by Duke, from 1987-89.
• With 146 ground yards against Wake Forest, Duke is averaging 183.25 rushing yards a contest this season, its highest average since gaining 198.64 yards per game in 1977.
• Duke committed one turnover after having six in the last two games.
- The Blue Devils entered the game tied for the 11th fewest turnovers lost among FBS programs with 12.
• Duke's offensive line bounced back by surrendering just 2.0 sacks and 2.0 tackles for loss against Wake Forest after averaging 3.50 sacks and 7.50 TFL in the last two games.
- The Blue Devils entered the game ranked ninth among FBS programs in fewest sacks allowed per game (1.00) and fourth in TFL surrendered per game (3.45).
• Duke has allowed 247 points this season. The total is tied for the sixth fewest allowed in a season since the start of the 1975 campaign.
• The Blue Devils recorded 4.0 sacks, giving the squad 16.0 in the last five games.
• Of the 83 points allowed by Duke in the last three games, 45 have come off of turnovers.
• Duke allowed -4 punt return yards to Wake Forest. In the last seven games, foes have totaled just eight punt return yards.
- The Blue Devils entered the game ranked fourth among FBS programs in punt return yards allowed with 2.47.
