INDIVIDUAL NOTES• Redshirt senior quarterback
Anthony Boone completed 18 of 40 pass attempts for 181 yards. Boone threw two interceptions for just the second time this season and the first time since the Blue Devils faced Miami.
• Senior wide receiver
Jamison Crowder hauled in six passes for 73 yards. He now has 262 career receptions, trailing only former Blue Devil
Conner Vernon (2009-12/283 catches) for the all-time ACC and school records.
• The 73 yards pushed Crowder's total to 3,364, good for sixth on the ACC career chart. Vernon owns the league and Duke records with 3,749 yards.
• Crowder also moved into second on Duke's all-time list, bypassing Clarkston Hines (1986-89/3,318).
• Crowder extended his consecutive games streak with two or more receptions to 38. The mark is the second longest streak among active NCAA receivers, trailing only East Carolina's Justin Hardy, who owns 44 consecutive games with two or more receptions.
• Crowder finished with 79 all-purpose yards to move up to ninth on the ACC career all-purpose chart with 5,197 yards. Clemson's C.J. Spiller (2006-09) holds the league record with 7,588 all-purpose yards.
• Redshirt senior wide receiver
Issac Blakeney ended the game with 44 receiving yards and has 138 in the last two games after totaling 63 receiving yards in the previous three contests.
• Redshirt senior running back
Josh Snead amassed 54 rushing yards on nine carries. He scored his third touchdown of the season.
- Snead rushed for three touchdowns in a season for the first time in his career.
• Freshman running back
Shaun Wilson rushed for 18 yards on six carries, moving him into a tie for sixth on Duke's all-time freshman season rushing yards list with 553 yards.
Jela Duncan joins Wilson in sixth on the all-time list.
• Senior linebacker
David Helton tallied nine tackles, including six assists.
- He entered the game ranked fourth among active FBS players in career assisted tackles with 194.
- Helton also began the contest leading the ACC in tackles per game this season with 10.44.
• Helton's nine tackles increased his career total to 316, the 14th most in program history. Mike Junkin (1983-86) owns the Duke record with 513 stops.
- Helton increased his season total to 103 stops, marking the 62nd time in program history a player has reached the 100-tackle mark in a campaign.
• Redshirt junior safety
Jeremy Cash notched a career high 3.0 tackles for loss, including 2.0 sacks. Cash ended the game with seven total tackles.
• Redshirt sophomore safety
DeVon Edwards booked 12 tackles, the sixth double-digit tackle game of his career.
- Edwards has recorded seven or more tackles in every game this season. Edwards also led the Blue Devils in total tackles for the third time this season.
• Sophomore cornerback
Breon Borders hauled in his third interception in two games and the seventh of his career. Borders added six tackles for the second most in his career.
• Redshirt senior defensive end
Dezmond Johnson booked 1.5 tackles for lost yardage to bring his total to 3.5 in the last two games.
• Johnson also booked a career-high 1.5 sacks in the contest. He has 2.5 sacks this season, just 0.5 sacks shy of his season-season high, set in 2011.
• Redshirt junior defensive end
Kyler Brown tackled Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Brewer for his second career sack and the first since the 2013 season opener against N.C. Central.
• Junior kicker
Ross Martin, the Duke career PAT record holder, converted one PAT and has made 99 consecutive PATs, extending his school record. Will Snyderwine (2009-11) held the previous high for consecutive PATs with 84.
• Martin has scored at least one point in 37 straight games.
• Martin made three field goals in five attempts, moving to 16-for-18 on the season.
- Martin has made at least one field goal in all 10 games this season.
- Martin moved into sole possession of second on the all-time Duke field goal list with his three makes. He has 47 career field goals, trailing only Sims Lenhardt (55/1996-99) on the Blue Devil chart.
- Martin connected on a 48-yard field goal in the third quarter to match his second-longest field goal of the season
• Martin kicked one extra point to lift his season total to 39, tied for the fifth most in a single season in Duke history. Martin owns the single-season record with 58 PATs in 2013.
• Senior offensive lineman
Laken Tomlinson started his 49th straight game, tied with four others for the longest streak among active NCAA FBS linemen.
TEAM NOTES• Despite the setback, Duke has started consecutive years with an 8-2 or better record for only the second time in school history, joining the 1935 (8-2) and 1936 (9-1) teams.
• Duke has outscored opponents 170-99 in the first half of games through the first 10 contests.
• Duke kicked a field goal on its opening drive, marking the first home game this season the Blue Devils did not score a touchdown on their first offensive series.
• The Blue Devils have scored in 35 of 40 quarters this season.
- Duke had just its second game of the season not scoring in two quarters, joining the Miami contest on Sept. 27.
• Duke recorded 326 yards of total offense, bouncing back from last week's 259 yards at Syracuse.
• With 141 rushing yards, Duke pushed its season average to 193.70 yards per game.
• The Blue Devils rushed for 141 yards after tallying just 98 a week ago at Syracuse.
• Duke held Virginia Tech to 293 yards and allowed only 224 to Syracuse last week.
• The Blue Devils recorded a season-high six sacks, giving the squad 10 in the last three games.
• Duke has allowed 181 points this season. The total is good for the fewest allowed through the first 10 games since the start of the 1973 campaign.
• Duke has allowed fewer than 20 points in seven of the 10 games this season.
- The Blue Devils are 22-4 (.846 winning percentage) under Cutcliffe when holding opponents to 20 points or fewer.
• After not recording a turnover in the first two games of the season, Duke has created 16 in the last eight games.
