INDIVIDUAL NOTES• Senior quarterback
Anthony Boone improved to 15-1 as a starting quarterback in regular-season games.
- Boone's overall record of 15-3 (.833 winning percentage) is second best among Duke quarterbacks, behind only Worth Lutz's .846 mark.
• Boone's 15 wins as a starting quarterback are tied with Walt Rappold (1959-62), Mike Dunn (1975-78) and Spence Fischer (1992-95) for the second most by a Blue Devil QB. Jerry Barger (1951-54) owns the program record with 17 victories.
• With 15 completions, Boone became the seventh player in program history to complete 400 or more passes. He owns 405 completions while
Sean Renfree (2009-12) holds the Duke record with 898 completions.
• Boone threw his 27th career touchdown pass, tied with Anthony Dilweg for the seventh most in program history.
• Sophomore quarterback
Thomas Sirk ran for two touchdowns. It is his second multiple-touchdown game of the season as he has two against Elon.
- Sirk now owns five career rushing touchdowns.
• Senior wide receiver
Jamison Crowder hauled in three passes for 29 yards. He now has 230 receptions, good for the fourth most in ACC history and the second most by a Duke player. Former Blue Devil
Conner Vernon (2009-12/283 catches) holds the all-time league and school mark.
• Crowder extended his consecutive games streak with two or more receptions to 34. The mark is the second longest streak among active NCAA receivers, trailing only East Carolina's Justin Hardy, who owns 41 consecutive games with two or more receptions.
• Junior wide receiver
Max McCaffrey caught three passes to lift his season total to 23. During the entire 2014 campaign, McCaffrey caught 26 passes.
- McCaffrey hauled in a touchdown to tie for the 2014 team lead with three. He entered the campaign with four career touchdown receptions.
• Freshman running back
Shaun Wilson gained 31 yards on seven carries for an average of 4.43 yards a rush.
- Wilson entered the game leading all FBS players in yards per carry with 12.08.
• Wilson has caught eight passes for 111 yards in the last two games.
• Redshirt senior running back
Josh Snead made his first start of the season and the 12th of his career.
• Snead finished the game with a season-high 102 rushing yards. His previous best this year was 74 against Elon in the 2014 opener.
- The performance was Snead's fifth career 100-yard ground game.
• Snead rushed for a four-yard touchdown, giving him two ground TDs this year, tied for the most in a year in his career.
• Redshirt freshman running back
Joseph Ajeigbe rushed for a career-high 53 yards.
• Redshirt junior safety
Jeremy Cash recovered his first fumble of the year in the third quarter off a Zach Laskey dropped ball.
• Cash intercepted his second pass of the year, and sixth of his career, in the fourth quarter. He returned the interception 23 yards.
• Redshirt senior defensive tackle
Jamal Bruce forced his first career fumble, allowing Cash to recover the third-quarter fumble.
• Redshirt junior defensive end
Kyler Brown recorded his first tackle for lost yardage of the season, stopping Justin Thomas for a one-yard loss in the opening quarter.
• True freshman linebacker
Zavier Carmichael intercepted his second career pass, and second in the last three games.
• Junior kicker
Ross Martin, the Duke career PAT record holder, converted four PATs and has made 87 consecutive PATs to surpass Will Snyderwine (2009-11/84) for the longest streak in Blue Devil history.
• Martin has scored at least one point in 33 straight games.
• Junior punter
Will Monday booted his seventh punt of 50 or more yards the last three games.
• In the last three games, Monday has also dropped five punts inside the 20-yard line.
• Senior offensive lineman
Laken Tomlinson started his 45th straight game, tied with three others for the longest streak among active NCAA FBS linemen.
TEAM NOTES• With the win, Duke improved to 5-1 overall. It is the Blue Devils' best record through six games since going 5-1 in 2012.
- Since 1970, Duke has started 5-1 or better just four other times (2012/5-1; 1994/6-0; 1988/5-1; 1971/5-1).
• The triumph gave Duke five wins this season and five or more wins in three straight seasons for the first time since 1987-89.
• Duke improved to 1-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. It is the fifth time in seven seasons under head coach
David Cutcliffe that the Blue Devils have been 1-1 or better through the first two league games.
• Cutcliffe earned the 36th win of his Duke career and trails Mike McGee (1971-78/37) by just one victory for third place on the all-time Duke chart. Wallace Wade (1931-41; 1946-50) owns the school mark with 110 triumphs while Bill Murray is second with 93 wins.
• Cutcliffe recorded his first victory against Georgia Tech after entering the game with an 0-6 mark against the Yellow Jackets.
- The win also snapped Duke's 10-game losing streak to Georgia Tech. It was the Blue Devils' first win against the Yellow Jackets since a 41-17 victory on Nov. 8, 2003, and their first in Atlanta since a 27-12 triumph on Sept. 24, 1994.
• The victory was Duke's seventh road win in its last eight true road games.
- The Blue Devils' six-game road winning streak, the longest for the program since the 1954-55 seasons, was snapped on Sept. 27 at Miami.
• The win against No. 22 Georgia Tech was Duke's third against a nationally ranked opponent in the last 13 games as the Blue Devils downed No. 16 Virginia Tech (Oct. 26) and No. 24 Miami (Nov. 16) in 2013.
- Duke has won its last two true road games against nationally ranked foes as the Virginia Tech game in 2013 was in Blacksburg.
• Duke improves to 5-3 following a traditional open date under Cutcliffe.
• Duke scored 31 points to surpass the 30-point threshold for the sixth time in seven contests.
- Duke is 28-9 (.757 winning percentage) when scoring at least 30 points under Cutcliffe.
• Duke has outscored opponents 112-51 in the first half of games through the first six contests.
• By scoring 31 points, the Blue Devils pushed their season total to 215 points in six games. It tied for the second most points scored through the first six games of a year in program history.
• Duke was ahead 7-3 at the end of the first quarter. Duke has held the lead at the end of the first quarter in four of six games played this season.
- The Blue Devils also held a 14-12 halftime lead and have been ahead in five of six games at intermission.
• With three rushing touchdowns, Duke has scored at least one ground TD in 22 of the last 23 games.
• Duke's offensive line did not allow a sack. In the past four contests, the Blue Devils have yielded just 2.0 sacks.
• The Blue Devils gave up 5.0 negative plays during the game.
- Duke entered the game tied for fourth among FBS teams with an average of just 3.00 TFL allowed per game.
• By limiting Georgia Tech to 25 points, Duke held its 13th consecutive regular season opponent to 30 or fewer points. Only Miami (30; Nov. 9, 2013) has reached 30 points during the stretch.
- The last team to surpass 30 points in the regular season against Duke was Troy with 31 on Sept. 28, 2013.
- The Blue Devils entered the game with the seventh best scoring defense among FBS teams with an average of 11.50 points per game surrendered.
• Duke has allowed just 93 points this season. The total is good for the fourth fewest allowed through the first six games since the start of the 1970 campaign.
• The Blue Devils held Georgia Tech to 13 points in the second half. In the first six weeks of the season, Duke has allowed only 43 second half points.
• After not recording a turnover in the first two games of the season, Duke has created 12 in the last four games.
- Duke forced one fumble to lift its season total to five, all on the road.
• The Blue Devils have intercepted eight passes in the last four games.
• The second half of the game was delayed for 77 minutes due to lightning in the area.
