PINEHURST, N.C. - Duke University junior Alejandra Cangrejo had her run at the 110th North & South Amateur Championship come to an end on Saturday as she dropped a 4 & 2 decision to fifth-seeded Doris Chen at the Pinehurst No. 2 course in Pinehurst, N.C.
Cangrejo, who is from Bogota, Colombia, bogied her first two holes to fall behind, 1-down, early, but came back to notch a birdie on the 330-yard, par four third hole to get the ledger back to all square. She struggled from holes 7-12 as Cangrejo bogied six straight holes to fall behind, 4-down. Cangrejo registered pars on the next four holes but she couldn't make up any ground on her way to falling, 4 & 2.
