DURHAM, N.C. - Duke University junior
Lindy Duncan was named the Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week, after notching medalist honors at the Bryan National Collegiate over the weekend.
The victory for Duncan was her third of the season and fifth of her career, which ranks her tied for sixth all-time in Duke history along with Blue Devil all-time greats Virada Nirapathpongporn and Candy Hannemann.
Duncan, who is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., carded rounds of 71, 71 and 70 for a total of four-under-par, 212, over the 54 holes of action. She collected one eagle and 10 birdies in the tournament. Duncan helped lead Duke to a tie for first place finish through three days, but the Blue Devils lost to Tennessee in a playoff for the team title.
A two-time NGCA All-America, Duncan is currently the top-ranked golfer in the nation by the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. She also earned the Golfweek Player of the Week and ACC Women's Golfer of the Month for April following the win.
Duncan boasts a 70.81 stroke average on the season, which if the season were to conclude today would be a new school record. She owns seven top 10 finishes in seven tournaments, including four top five placements. Duncan has registered a 68.71 stroke average in the final round this season.
With the Duke Student-Athlete of the Week honor, Duncan will be featured in Thursday's GoDuke Weekly, which will be on GoDuke.com Thursday, April 12. Duke will next compete in the ACC Championship from April 13-15 at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
