Winning Championships Is a Plumlee Family Tradition

DURHAM, N.C. - With the economy in the tank, people are taking advantage of every method available to them to save money. The Plumlee family has saved more than half a million dollars in the last four years, but it isn't from cutting down gas usage or refinancing the house.
Instead, Perky and Leslie Plumlee raised three sons - Miles, Mason and Marshall - that have gone on to earn basketball scholarships at Duke University. The grocery bills had to be astronomical while raising three young men that each stand at least 6-foot-10 and weigh 225 pounds or more, but the tuition relief gained from the three sons earning full rides to Duke is equally impressive.
The Plumlee brothers are just the third trio of brothers to play NCAA Division I basketball on the same team. The other trio of brothers were the Brennan's (Matthew, Thomas and William), who played at Villanova during the 1957-58 season, and the Bockhorn brothers (Bucky, Harold and Terry), who suited up for Dayton in 1957-58.

The Plumlee brothers found their way to Durham from Warsaw, Ind., via prep careers at Christ School in Arden, N.C. To say the three are used to winning championships would be an understatement.
The trio played on the same high school team during the 2007-08 season, leading the Greenies to a 34-2 record and the 2008 NCISAA state championship.
With Miles Plumlee off to Duke the following season, Mason Plumlee and Marshall Plumlee saw to it that Christ School repeated as state champs in 2009.
One year later, Miles and Mason collected a National Championship with the Blue Devils, while Marshall led his high school team to a third straight state title.
Finally, in 2011, with his older siblings helping Duke to another ACC Championship, Marshall added a fourth North Carolina state championship to his belt.
All three brothers have played on a high school championship team together - this year they will try to win one as teammates in college.
