COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Duke University junior Lindy Duncan closed the 2011 U.S. Women's Open as the second lowest amateur in the field on Sunday at the Broadmoor East Course in Colorado Springs, Colo. The final round was not completed due to inclement weather and will resume at 10:00 a.m., on Monday morning.
Duncan, who is from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., turned in rounds of 70, 78, 76 and 76 for a total of 300 and is currently tied for 58th overall at 16-over-par. A two-time All-America as a freshman and sophomore at Duke, Duncan opened Sunday's final round on the 10th tee box and posted a two-over-par, 37, in the first nine. She closed with a 39 on the final nine, including a birdie on her final hole of the tournament -- the 535-yard, par five ninth.
On Sunday, Duncan hit 11-of-14 fairways and 11-of-18 greens. Her 76.8 fairways hit percentage currently ranks tied for 21st overall.
Two-time All-America in 2004 and 2005 at Duke, Brittany Lang also closed her weekend with rounds of 72, 74, 81 and 71 for a total of 298, which ranks tied for 52nd. She notched five birdies in the final round to post an even-par ledger.
Leading the field with a 72-hole total is Hee Kyung Seo with a three-under-par, 281, which is three-under-par. So Yeon Ryu holes a two-under-par score through 15 holes and Cristie Kerr is one-under-par through 16 holes. Moriya Jutanugarn took the lowest amateur medal with a four-day total of 294, which ranks tied for 33rd.
