Duke extended its winning streak in the month of February to 17 games with the last loss coming on Feb. 15, 2009 against Boston College.
The Blue Devils have now won seven consecutive games against Virginia and 16 of the last 17 in the series. Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski earned his 50th win over Virginia and is now 50-16 all-time.
The 41 points allowed were the fewest this season and lowest since last season when Gonzaga only scored 41 against the Blue Devils. It was the lowest by an ACC opponent since 2007 when Duke held Wake Forest to 40 points. The last time the Blue Devils held an opponent to under 50 points on the road was last season when Virginia managed just 49. It was the lowest total on the road by an ACC team since 1968 when Duke won 50-41 at Wake Forest.
The 56 points was the lowest scored by the Blue Devils this season and lowest since the Sweet 16 in 2009 when they had 54 in a loss to Villanova.
Virginia only made 16 field goal attempts in the game. It was the third time this season a Duke opponent made fewer than 20 field goal attempts.
The Blue Devils held the Cavaliers to a 28.6 field goal percentage, the lowest field goal percentage by a Duke opponent this season and lowest since Gonzaga shot 27.8 last year.
Duke made a season-low five free throws and attempted its lowest total this season with nine.
It is the 11th time Duke has shot 50 percent or better with Duke posting an 11-0 record in those games. It was the seventh time they have shot at least 50 percent in both halves.
The Blue Devils held a +10 rebounding advantage for the game and have outrebounded their opponent in 18 games this year.
Duke has had a 20-point scorer in 22 of the 26 games this year.
Sophomore Ryan Kelly posted his sixth career double figure scoring game with 11 points.
Kelly matched a career high with four blocked shots in the game and now has 11 multi-block games this season. He now has 41 blocked shots this season with seven games of three or more.
Senior Kyle Singler drew his team-leading 94th consecutive start and has now started in 136 of his 137 career games. The 136 career starts ranks third most on Duke's all-time list and is now four shy of the school record.
Singler matched his lowest career point total with two points to snap his ACC-leading streak of 23 consecutive double figure scoring games. He also had two points against Clemson in the ACC Tournament his freshman year. It was just the 18th time in 137 career games he did not score 10 or more points.
He went scoreless in the first half of play, marking the second time this season he did not score a point in a half. He also was scoreless in the second half against Miami (Ohio), the only game he did not score in double figures.
Singler also snapped his streak of 23 straight games with a three-point field goal.
He has been a part of 117 victories at Duke and is now tied for fourth most on Duke's career wins list and is tied for seventh on the ACC career wins list. His .854 career winning percentage as a player ranks tied for eighth at Duke.
Singler had four rebounds to pass Bernie Janicki for ninth place on the Duke career rebounding list. He now has 924 career rebounds.
