Recapping the Year
Duke finished 2011 with an 11-8-3 overall record ... The Blue Devils advanced to the NCAA Tournament second round for the second straight year before losing to top-ranked New Mexico in overtime ... In the ACC, Duke posted a 4-3-1 overall record to finish third in the regular season standings and advanced to the semifinal round.
2011 Season Highlights
Blue Devils Stat Leaders
Junior forward Andrew Wenger led the team in scoring, tying the Duke single season record with 17 goals ... He totaled 42 points to sit in fifth on the single season points list ... Senior Christopher Tweed-Kent had his best season as a Blue Devil with six goals and a team-high 12 assists for 24 points ... Freshman Nick Palodichuk led all rookies in the ACC with 22 points from eight goals and six assists ... James Belshaw posted six shutouts for the year and finished with a career-best 78 saves.
Duke Trio Honored for Academic Excellence
The trio of Christopher and Daniel Tweed-Kent and Andrew Wenger recently were honored for their work in the classroom and on the soccer field ... They each were named to the Capital One Academic All-America teams ... Wenger and Christopher both earned first team honors, while Daniel was voted to the second team ... This marks the first time in program history Duke has placed more than a single player on the Academic All-America squad in a single season ... Wenger and Christopher are the second and third Blue Devils to earn first team honors in Duke soccer history.
Five Blue Devils Earn All-Conference Honors
Duke placed four players on the All-ACC teams and two to the All-ACC Freshmen squad ... Juniors James Belshaw and Andrew Wenger were selected to the first team, while sophomore Sebastien Ibeagha and freshman Nick Palodichuk earned second team honors ... Palodichuk was the lone freshman voted to one of the two All-ACC squads ... Andrew Morales and Palodichuk picked up All-ACC Freshmen recognition.
Wenger Makes ACC History
Andrew Wenger became the first player in ACC history to win the three major awards since the conference created Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors ... He was ACC Freshman of the Year in 2009, ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 and is this season's ACC Offensive Player of the Year ... He is the sixth player to win the top freshman of the year award and then a conference player of the year honor later in his collegiate career ... The Lititz, Pa., native is just the third Blue Devil to earn first team honors his first three seasons.
Duke in the Statistical Rankings
At the conclusion of the 2011 season, Duke ranked among the top 10 nationally in two team statistical categories ... The Blue Devils' 44 goals were the ninth and the scoring offense (2.0/gm) was 10th ... Individually, Andrew Wenger ranked fourth in points and sixth in goals ... Christopher Tweed-Kent had the third most assists in Division I in 2011.

Defense Finished Strong
After posting just one shutout in the first 10 games of the season, the Duke backline started to hit its stride with five clean sheets in the final 12 games of the year.
Home Sweet Home
Duke posted an 8-3-2 overall record at home in 2011 to improve to 35-9-5 at home under head coach John Kerr ... In 2009 and 2010, the Blue Devils lost just one home contest each year.
Tough Schedule
Duke had a tough schedule in 2011 ... The Blue Devils played eight teams that earned a berth in the 48-team field, including four of the top 16 seeds ... Prior to Duke's 4-2 loss at No. 3 Maryland, the Blue Devils' seven-game unbeaten streak was the longest under head coach John Kerr and the best since Duke started the 2006 season at 6-0-1.

After being held scoreless in consecutive games on Sept. 4 and Sept. 9, Duke scored two-plus goals in 13 games ... In a four-game stretch from Sept. 16 to Sept. 27 Duke rolled off 17 goals, marking the first time since 1986 Duke registered four-plus goals in four consecutive games ... Junior goalkeeper James Belshaw had six shutouts this season to push his career total to 13 ... His six shutouts were just one shy of tying nine other goalkeepers for the No. 10 spot on the Duke single-season list ... The most recent Duke goalie to have at least seven shutouts in a season was Brendan Fitzgerald in 2008 ... The overall single season record is held by Pat Johnston with 13 in 1983 and 1985.

Nick Palodichuk, Andrew Morales and Riley Wolfe all started their first collegiate games, while Nat Eggleston earned the starting nod in his second outing ... Rookie Sean Davis cracked the starting lineup on Oct. 14 at Maryland and Matt Slotnick started twice and was the first off the bench in five games ... Palodichuk finished third on the team in points with eight goals and six assists for 22 points ... Eggleston has played all but 20 minutes in every game he has started and had two goals and an assist ...
