DURHAM, N.C. – In preparation for the spring season, the Duke women's lacrosse team has announced its schedule for the fall of 2010. The Blue Devils' fall slate includes games against Syracuse, North Carolina and Florida in addition to the Duke Fall Invitational and the Georgetown Fall Ball Tournament.
First up, Duke takes on Syracuse, a team that advanced to the national semifinals a season ago, this Sunday, Oct. 3 in the team's first scrimmage of 2010-11. The Blue Devils and the Orange face off in Chapel Hill with game time scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Oct. 7, Duke and squares off against ACC-rival North Carolina at 3:30 p.m., followed by a scrimmage with Florida on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. The Blue Devils will also hold the annual Duke Fall Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 24 before traveling to Georgetown for the Hoya's fall tournament on Saturday, Oct. 30.
Duke returns seven starters from the 2010 squad which recorded a 14-6 mark en route to the program's 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. All-ACC selections Sarah Bullard and Kat Thomas look to anchor a group which features eight newcomers. In addition, midfielder Emma Hamm, an IWLCA All-America pick in 2008, will return to the line-up after missing the 2010 season due to injury.
