"Molly is one of the most well-rounded players in [our freshman] class," head coach Kerstin Kimel said. "Her size combined with speed, footwork, stick skills and tremendous game sense, which has evolved from her basketball background, make her an ideal candidate for our midfield."
Quirke joined the Duke midfield contingent this fall after starting four seasons at New Trier High School. She earned USL All-America and Academic All-America honors in both 2009 and 2010, while also serving as team captain her senior year. An all-conference and all-state pick throughout her career, Quirke was also a standout on the basketball court.
Duke is currently preparing for the 2011 season and will hold its first scrimmage of the fall against Syracuse on Sunday, Oct. 3 in Chapel Hill.
