NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has named seven Duke track & field student-athletes to the 2010 Men's All-Academic Team the organization announced Thursday afternoon.
For the Blue Devils, javelin competitor John Austin, multi-event specialist Curtis Beach and distance runners James Kostelnik, Joshua Lund, Ryan McDermott, Ken Sullivan and Bo Waggoner were awarded all-academic status.
Duke led all ACC schools with seven selections, while the Seminoles from Florida State had six named to the team.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grad point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or [participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event.
The USTFCCCA will announce the institutions given All-Academic Team status on Monday, August 2 (men) and Tuesday, August 3 (women).
