Duncan Enters Final Round Two Shots Off Lead at Bryan National

GREENSBORO, N.C. - With 18 holes remaining at the Bryan National Collegiate, Duke University freshman Lindy Duncan is two shots off the individual lead and in search of her second straight individual victory. Duncan holds a 36-hole total of 141 at the 6,323-yard, Par 72 Players Course at the Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center.

Duncan, who is a product of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is in third place overall only two shots off leaders Cheyenne Woods and Michelle Shin of Wake Forest (139). Coming off her first collegiate victory last weekend at the Liz Murphey Collegiate, Duncan opened the first nine holes at one-over-par, but closed the round with birdies on No. 12, No. 15, No. 16 and No. 17 to finish her second round with a three-under-par, 69.

In the overall team standings, Duke is in fifth overall with rounds of 293 and 300 for a total of 593. The Blue Devils are 14 shots behind leader Florida State (579). Wake Forest (580), Ohio State (592), Tennessee (592), Duke (593), Vanderbilt (595), South Carolina (596), North Carolina (598), Auburn (600) and LSU (601) round out the top 10.

As a team, Duke registered only nine birdies on the day, four of which came from Duncan. Big numbers were the trouble for the Blue Devils as they committed six double-bogeys on the afternoon.

Junior Kim Donovan totaled Duke's second-best score of the day with a two-over-par, 74, and she enters the final round tied for 23rd with a 149. Coming off a one-under-par, 71, on Friday, senior Alison Whitaker closed with a 78 on Saturday. A native of Melbourne, Australia, Whitaker opened with a one-under-par score through six holes but struggled the rest of the way.

Freshman Stacey Kim turned in an 80, while freshman Courtney Ellenbogen had a 79 on Saturday. Kim enters the final round tied for 57th and Ellenbogen is tied for 80th.

Duke will tee off in the final round beginning at 8:30 a.m., with a shotgun start off holes 4-6.
