Bullard & Gilbride Named to Tewaarton Watch List

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Duke women's lacrosse junior Sarah Bullard and senior Lindsay Gilbride have been named to the 2010 preseason Tewaarton watch list as announced by the Greater Washington Sports Alliance. The list is made up of the top lacrosse players across all three divisions of collegiate lacrosse, who are the early hopefuls for the 2010 Tewaaraton Trophy.

The Tewaaraton Award was formally established in August of 2000 and is the pre-eminent lacrosse award, which is given annually to the NCAA men's and women's lacrosse player of the year.

Bullard and Gilbride, both captains, are the team's top two scorers early in the season, totaling 25 and 22 points, respectively. Bullard, a native of Needham, Mass., leads the squad with 21 goals, including two, five-goal performances this season. She has also been a key to the Duke defense, tied for first on the team with 12 caused turnovers, ranked second with 12 draw controls and sits in third with 14 ground balls.

Gilbride's 13 goals this season is second-best for Duke, while her nine assists is tied for tops on the team. The Alexandria, Va., native was named ACC Player of the Week on Feb. 15 after leading the Blue Devils to victories over Denver and then-No. 11 Vanderbilt. She netted two goals and dished out a career-high four assists in the season opener against the Pioneers before notching a hat trick versus the Commodores two days later.

The award will be presented on June 3rd, 2010 at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.
