Upcoming Event: Women's Golf versus Windy City Collegiate Classic on September 29, 2025

ATHENS, Ga. - Duke University freshman Lindy Duncan claimed her first collegiate victory on Sunday as she registered a 54-hole total of three-under-par, 213, to win by eight strokes, while fourth-ranked Duke won the team title at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic by 21 strokes. The tournament was being played at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga.
Duncan, who is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., registered rounds of 70, 72 and 71 over the three days to win by eight strokes over her teammate Stacey Kim (221). She collected four birdies in the final round, including two in a row to close out her day on No. 17 and No. 18. Over the weekend, Duncan posted 11 birdies.
"I had a plan going into each day, and it was really windy the first two days," commented Duncan. "I wanted to hit a lot of greens, the greens there are very undulating, but I just had confidence in my putting to know that I could 2-putt, and I putted really well."
As a team, Duke fired rounds of 300, 300 and 289 to finish with a 54-hole total of 889, which was 21 shots better than second place Alabama (910). Arkansas (912), Purdue (915), Auburn (915), Wake Forest (921), Wake Forest (921), Michigan State (928), North Carolina (928), Denver (929) and Ohio State (931) rounded out the top 10.
"Overall, I'm really happy about the performance," said Duke Head Coach Dan Brooks. "There's big things, and there's little things, and I'm happy about all of them. It was a hard golf course, and some tough conditions, and it really demanded a lot of concentration and a lot of hard work on the short game, so for us to come away with a big win, it's big for us. This is a good benchmark for what we need to do later in the season."
The victory for the Blue Devils was their second of the season as Duke also closed out the fall with a win at the NCAA Fall Preview in Wilmington, N.C.
A product of Columbus, Ga., Kim registered a career-best tied for second place finish as she fired a two-under-par, 70, to close out the tournament. Her final round of 70 was the best closing round of her short career. On Sunday, Kim started off with four bogeys over her first five holes, but regrouped to notch six birdies over the next 10 holes to finish with a two-under-par, 70. Kim posted birdies on No. 7, No. 8, No. 10, No. 11, No. 15 and No. 16.
"[Stacey was] tremendous," said Brooks. "She looked like she could have just made birdies for another 18 holes. She had a tough start [on day 3], but sometimes that just happens in golf, but she was so solid, on the backside."
Kim Donovan closed the weekend with a 78 on Sunday to finish tied for 20th. Donovan, who is from Hopkinton, Mass., registered her second top 20 finish of the season.
After struggling the first two days with rounds of 82 and 79, senior Alison Whitaker turned it around in the final round to finish with a 73. She had a three-day total of 234 to finish tied for 37th overall.
Freshman Courtney Ellenbogen compiled rounds of 79, 77 and 75 at the Liz Murphey Classic to finish tied for 28th with a total of 231.
Duke will next play in the Bryan National Collegiate from April 2-4 in Greensboro, N.C.
