Crowd of Over 30,000The final attendance was 30,904 which marked the third time this season Duke has topped the 30,000 total. It is the 11th crowd of over 30,000 since 2001.
Redzone SuccessThe Blue Devils wrapped up an impressive season in the red zone, finishing 3-of-3 in the North Carolina game. For the year Duke was 38-of-43 (.884) inside the 20-yard line.
Third Downs and Time of PossessionTwo of the big differences in the game were third down conversions and time of possession. Duke was 4-of-13 (.308) on third downs and North Carolina was 11-of-17 (.647). The Tar Heels also held the ball for 39:33 of 60 minutes.
Renfree Hits 3,000 YardsWith his six-yard completion to
Cooper Helfet late in the first half, redshirt sophomore quarterback
Sean Renfree became the fifth player in school history to throw for over 3,000 yards in a season. He finished the season with 3,131 to rank third on the single season list.
Renfree on Single Season ListsRenfree also finished among the top 10 in several other passing categories. He ranks third with 285 completions, third with 464 attempts and fifth with a .614 completion percentage.
Interception-Free Streak EndsRenfree's streak of consecutive pass attempts without an interception came to a close on a hail mary attempt to end the first half. His streak ended at 173, which is the second longest in school history behind
Thaddeus Lewis' streak of 206 in 2007-08.
Connette Scores 8th TouchdownTrue freshman quarterback
Brandon Connette had a two-yard rushing touchdown for his eighth score of the year. The eight rushing touchdowns are a freshman record at Duke and are the second most by a quarterback in school history.
Kelly Scores Touchdown in Final GameSenior wide receiver
Austin Kelly caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from
Sean Renfree to give Duke the first points of the game. The touchdown grab was the fourth of the season for Kelly and ninth of his career. He has caught a touchdown pass in each of the last two games.
Vernon On Single Season ListsSophomore wide receiver
Conner Vernon ended his second season with 73 receptions for 973 yards. The 73 catches finished tied for second most in a single season, one shy of Wes Chesson's record of 74 in 1970. The 973 yards rank sixth most.
Varner Moves Up Career Receiving ListJunior wide receiver
Donovan Varner had four catches for 67 yards in the game and moved into seventh on the career receptions list with 146 in his three seasons. He also ranks eighth with 1,947 yards.
Hatcher Records SafetyRedshirt junior nose guard
Charlie Hatcher recorded a tackle on a running play in the end zone for a safety in the fourth quarter. It was the first safety for Duke since the Richmond game last season when there was a team safety.
20 Tackles For KromahRedshirt senior linebacker
Abraham Kromah tallied a career-high 20 tackles in his final game. The 20 tackles tie for 10th most in a single game in school history. The last player to accomplish the feat was
Michael Tauiliili, who had 20 tackles in his final game against North Carolina in 2008.
Double Digit TacklesKromah's double digit tackles gives him 10 or more in eight games this season. He finished with 129 tackles, the 20th most in school history. A season-high four players reached double digits in tackles for the game. Junior safety
Matt Daniels had 13 stops for his third game this season with 10 or more. Sophomore safety
Walt Canty posted his second double digit tackle performance and Hatcher had a career-high 10 tackles for the year.
Thornton Earns First SackSenior linebacker
Damian Thornton notched his first sack of the season in the second quarter and now has 1.5 career sacks.
Snyderwine Nets 21st Field GoalJunior kicker
Will Snyderwine extended his school record with his 21st made field goal of the season. He is now 21-of-24 (.875) on the year. His 35 career field goals rank fifth all-time at Duke.
