DURHAM, N.C. – Each week during the 2010 football season, GoDuke.com will take a look back at a memorable performance by a Blue Devil in a series called Hall of Heroes.
Featured this week is former running back Chris Douglas. On November 8, 2003, Douglas carried the ball 30 times for 218 yards and two touchdowns to lead Duke to a 41-17 rout of Georgia Tech. His first touchdown came on a 12-yard run in the third quarter that put the Blue Devils ahead 27-10. Douglas then capped the scoring on a 27-yard touchdown run that accounted for the final 41-17 margin with 2:49 left in the game.
The 218 yards marked the third-highest single-game rushing total in Duke history.
Douglas finished his career as Duke's all-time leading rusher, racking up 3,122 career rushing yards on a school-record 695 carries. His 1,138 rushing yards in 2003 ranks as the third-highest single-season total in Blue Devil history.
