Men's Soccer Earns Berth in NCAA Tournament

DURHAM, N.C.-The Duke University men's soccer team earned its 24th overall and seventh consecutive berth in the NCAA Tournament as the 48-team bracket was announced this evening on ESPNU. The Blue Devils earned an at-large bid and will host Coastal Carolina in a first-round game on Nov. 18 at 7 p.m., at Koskinen Stadium.
Tickets are available for $7 for adults and $5 for all students and senior citizens. Live statistics will be available free of charge.
Ranked 19th by the NSCAA at the end of the regular season, Duke enters the tournament with a 9-5-4 overall record. The Blue Devils fell to Boston College in the opening round of the ACC Tournament on Nov. 10.
The Blue Devils and Chanticleers will be meeting for the second time in the NCAA Tournament. The two squads squared off in the opening round in 2004 with the Blue Devils cruising to a 3-0 win. That also marked the last year Duke advanced to the NCAA College Cup.
Coastal Carolina earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament field after winning the automatic qualifying spot from the Big South. The Chanticleers defeated High Point 3-1 in the conference tournament championship. They are 12-7-2 overall and are riding a three-game win streak.
The winner of the contest will be move on to the second round to take on No. 7 seed South Carolina on Nov. 21.
