Fall Break is overrrrr...
So what does that mean for the Duke Women's Lacrosse Team? For one, it means sunburned skin, newly wed sisters (CHRISTINA Spearman, not Danielle, got married oopsy-daisy I knew I slipped up...), lots of family time, catching up with old friends, and for others (or should I say, one), sheer exhaustion after a long USA training weekend.
First of all, how messed up is it that my dad, older sister, and Sarah Bullard all got to hang out this weekend without me? However I must say I was sitting on the beach, two hours from school, with 85 degree weather, crystal clear water, and clean little waves so I happen to know my father was jealous of me! It is always strange to be apart from teammates for more than five hours so after fall break the reunions are always incredible. The best I witnessed was Casey Beyel hiding in Bull's room and hearing Bull screech with delight at finding her.
The first practice back is always fun as well, and we played well. I think quite a bit of it had to do with Kahoe's return, which threw us all into a frenzy. P.S. have I mentioned that due to Mollie Mackler's (healing) knee injury she stands behind the goal and yells like she's in the game? I think sometimes people miss the goal because they think she's in there...with the exception of Alyssa Ogle, who was shooting lights out and I don't think missed a shot. Makenzie Hommel did a great job working on the left side of the goal and I think will have it perfected by sometime next week...it has honestly been a pretty uneventful week with everyone returning and only a couple of days of school under our belts.
We have quite a large recruiting weekend this weekend with lots of visitors and fun things on the agenda. Our defending national champ men's basketball team is getting their rings and unveiling the fourth banner tomorrow night! I'm hoping to elbow my way in or use one of my many methods to get into Cameron ... shhhh ... but look for me on tv perhaps! Football takes on Miami (apparently their QB is a "warrior" according to Emma Tucci...she needs to explain that one...) and both Sara Godfrey and Taylor Virden have birthdays this weekend! It's lookin' to be a swell weekend and I'm sure I'll have great updates for y'all next time!
I've created a monster with the shout out deal ... lets see here Norma obviously gets one, and shout out to Aunt Pat who I know is reading, Barry and Mary Quirke, Kathleen, and who else ... oh yes my mother, who claims it is the best part of her day. Duke Lax has the BEST support system in the world and we are RIDICULOUSLY lucky to have this group of people behind us. We will go far with you all in support! Love to all, we miss you everyday and we talk about all of you parents, friends, and family all the time. Looking forward to seeing most of you next weekend!
