In addition, the coaches donned the stickers on their headsets during the game.
Two True Freshmen Earn First Career StartsTrue freshmen
Brandon Connette (QB) and
Juwan Thompson (RB) earned their first collegiate starts for the Blue Devils. Connette has played in six games while Thompson saw action for the fifth time this season. This season Duke has had 10 players receive first career starts, including three true freshmen.
Defense Posts First and Fourth Quarter ShutoutsFor the second straight game, the Blue Devils' defense held its opponent scoreless in the first quarter. Duke has led 3-0 after the first period against both Maryland and Miami. This also marked the second time this season the Blue Devils have not allowed a point in the fourth quarter as they also held Army scoreless to end the game.
Four Fourth Down Stops For DefenseThe Duke defense recorded four fourth down stops inside their own territory in the game as Miami was 0-4 on fourth down. The Blue Devils stopped the Hurricanes on 4th-and-5 at the Duke 44 in the first quarter, on 4th-and-1 at the Duke 48 in the second quarter, on 4th-and-3 at the Duke 39 and on 4th-and-5 from the Duke 30. Entering the game opponents were 6-of-6 on fourth down against the Blue Devils.

Brandon Connette carried the ball in from one yard out in the third quarter for his third rushing touchdown of the season.
Hollingsworth Rushes For Career HighJunior running back
Jay Hollingsworth rushed for a career-high 69 yards on 10 carries, including a 22-yard carry. His previous high was 67 yards on 15 attempts against Wake Forest in 2008.
Varner Moves Up Receiving ListJunior wide receiver
Donovan Varner climbed into ninth on Duke's all-time passing list with his 50 yards on Saturday. He moved past
Jomar Wright and now has 1,647 career receiving yards. Next on the list is Cedric Jones with 1,732 yards.
Duke Recovers Two FumblesRedshirt sophomore
Jordon Byas recovered a fumble forced by
Matt Pridemore on the opening kickoff to set up a Duke field goal. It was the first fumble recovery of Byas' career. In the second quarter, senior cornerback
Chris Rwabukamba posted his second career caused fumble which was recovered by true freshman
Kelby Brown. It was the second fumble recovery of the season for Brown. Duke has forced two or more turnovers in four of the six games this season.
Double Digit TacklesJunior safety
Matt Daniels recorded his second career game with 10 or more tackles, posting 12 stops and 1.5 tackles for loss. His other double digit tackle performance came against Miami last year when he had 13 stops. Senior linebacker
Abraham Kromah also had 12 tackles for his third straight game with 10 or more. He has recorded 40 tackles in his last three games and now has 58 in six contests on the season.
Snyderwine Makes Two Field GoalsJunior
Will Snyderwine made field goal attempts of 25 and 43 yards and is now 11-of-12 on the season. He has made his last nine field goal attempts. His 43-yard field goal was his fourth of 40+ yards this season as he is now 4-5 on attempts of 40 or more yards.
